As a military Chaplain, I have coached leaders at all levels of responsibility. I have coached individuals & couples from every demographic. Working together, we have tackled a diverse and comprehensive list of challenges. From my own life, and decades of coaching experience, I know we all have struggles. Often they are a consequence of avoiding emotional/psychological or spiritual pain. My passion is assisting people in their pursuit of purpose, meaning, and healing; which ultimately lead to a more meaningful life.
Committing to a healthier life is just that – a commitment, and it’s a big one that will take a lot a dedication. My commitment is to provide you with accountability, understanding, and support.
A key coaching method I use is called "Immunity to Change." It is a program developed by Harvard Professors & Psychologists Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey. What they found in their research was changing a person’s behavior is very hard, even when people have a sincere commitment to change (sometimes their lives could even be at risk). People often get things to shift for a little while, but eventually a person returns to their habitual ways of relating, working and thinking. What’s going on? Is it a lack of willpower? Is it a fundamental flaw that can’t be changed?
The ITC process reveals the “hidden commitments” that are keeping us from changing. We have unconscious beliefs that govern our behavior. ITC coaching helps us understand these beliefs and challenge them, allowing us truly change.
You and I will create an Immunity to Change Map. It begins by outlining your commitment to an improvement goal. The goal is the ONE thing that would make the most difference in your happiness. It then sketches out the things you are doing or not doing that sabotage your goal. The Map then identifies competing commitments, as well as the underlying assumptions behind those competing commitments. You will learn to test your assumptions that are preventing you from changing.
This process is transformational. Thousands of individuals and organizations from across the globe have gone through the ITC process and witnessed a profound shift in their life satisfaction and happiness.
